Church bulletins and newsletters offer an easy way to say "thanks" to those who contribute to your music program.

2. Write a letter of thanks to the choir director and each of the musicians.

3. Publish the names of choir members and their accompanists in your church bulletin. (See the suggested draft at the end of this article.)

4. Write an article about the music program for your newsletter.

5. Salute the choir and other musicians during the worship service on the Sunday which begins Religious Music Week (sometimes called "Choir Sunday"). Give their names and ask them to stand and be recognized.

6. Devote the worship service on "Choir Sunday" to the place of religious music in the church. Make use of the materials-- suggested Scripture readings, prayer, hymns and sermon--provided on this website.

7. Hold an after-service reception or coffee hour with choir members as your guests of honor.

8. Invite your musicians to prepare a special music program for the "Choir Sunday" worship service.

9. Arrange an exchange of choirs with another church during your Religious Music Week services.

10. Seek ways for your choir, choral group or musicians to participate in community events, carrying the "good news" of the Gospel to an ever-expanding number of people in your area. Help them arrange performances on radio stations, at special public functions, at hospitals and retirement centers, etc.

11. Join with other churches and ask your local elected officials (city or county) to issue a proclamation recognizing Religious Music Week.

12. Ask the religion editor of your local newspaper to acknowledge Religious Music Week in his or her editorial columns. Make the same request of your local radio station.

A "Thank You" To Our Musicians

This Sunday, as a part of Religious Music Week, we want to thank the talented men and women in our congregation who provide music for our workship services throughout the year.

The ministry of music is an essential part of our religious life.  Through song, we worship the Lord, our God.  We give thanks, we ask for blessing, we renew our faith, and we express the joy of Christian fellowship.

Those who contribute to our year-round music program and who deserve our thanks for a job well done include:

(List music director, choir directors, choir members, musicians, and others contributing to the music program.)

When you see any of these people, please tell them how much you appreciate their gift to our church!
