Religious Music Week was founded 1995 under the sponsorship of "A Taste of Gospel Music," a two-day festival which brings together more than 50 churches of all denominations in Southwestern Ohio.

Officers are, seated, left to right: Betsy Jones, Secretary; Joan Christian, Treasurer. Standing: Kevin Samblanet, Vice Chair, Awards; Stewart Jones, Chair; Bill Copeland, Vice Chair, Finance.

"Ours is an interfaith movement involving many denominations," says the Rev. Ron Davis, a member of the founding committee. "We seek to be a catalyst, encouraging congregations to build upon the ministry of music, attracting men and women from all walks of life to a saving knowledge of God and leading them to a fuller, more rewarding religious life."

Because this program was so well received the committee expanded its outreach-- first, statewide and then nationally. In 1998 the Religious Music Week Committee prepared and mailed to more than 300 churches an "Idea Packet" providing suggestions for observing Religious Music Week, plus materials for a complete worship service related to the ministry of music. The material in this packet is now available on this web site (click on "Music Week!").
